Isometric Game Art

These are graphics I've created for isometric game: Hartacon. I find it interesting how a small sample of tiles can be repeated to form an endless variety of landscapes.

Below is an isometric block. The challenge is in creating repeatable textures that will seamlessly align.

Currently, and for the past year, I have been working on CasinoRPG, which involves a ton of isometric art.

  1. Looks great! Game art is really a challenge due to the technical requirements. And repeating textures especially. But you've done these really well. They could be part of a very nice landscape.

I'm also curious about the game because of what looks like adjustable elevations on the blocks. I just want someone to do a beautiful Minecraft, so I see it everywhere I can =)

  2. Nice work! I was on a project like this once but we were way more limited in how we could create the assets. It was still fun but this project that you're on looks like it might be even more fun :D

  3. Nice! Can you please explain how you draw it? Or at least what tools you used for it. Cubes are easy, but I don't how to draw a grass.

  4. Thanks!

Andoriyu- Drawing the grass just takes a bit of practice. The main thing to keep in mind, is that the top is lightest, the left side is a little darker, and the right side is darkest.

  5. I use Adobe Photoshop and a Wacom tablet. https://www.wacom.com/en/Store/

I paint over the green isometric cube shown in the post. I save the images in .PNG format, so that they have transparent backgrounds.
